Libby Spencer is a operations, community affairs and development professional with over 20 years experience in corporate relations, community engagement and fundraising. She believes in the power of an entrepreneurial mindset to transform communities. “To me being an entrepreneur is not only about starting a business, I see entrepreneurism as creating value. Entrepreneurs know that when their winning, others are winning too.”
Before moving back to Madisonville from Atlanta, GA in 2018, she was the development director for Youth Entrepreneurs (YE), an educational program created by Liz and Charles Koch. Libby feels the way we can help ourselves and help our community is by supporting entrepreneurs and programs that help development an entrepreneurial spirit. Mark Twain once said, "Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect." The average person rarely considers how ordinary things can be made better or improved-- those with the entrepreneurial spirit can't help themselves. They are continually questioning why things are done the way they are and aren't afraid to go against the majority to make changes. Every community needs more entrepreneurial spirit!
Libby’s list of entrepreneurs she admires include John Rohn, Dan Cathy, and Charles Koch and locally Sharon Smith, Jenny Gipson, Sharon Lobel and Kevin Cotton. “I admire their dedication to personal development, problem-solving and being lifelong learners and doing the daily disciplines required to be great.”
When Libby’s not working she’s mostly like noshing on great food, sipping a great cup of coffee or visiting dogs at the Hopkins County Humane Society.
